Emily is: Experienced. Effective. Ethical.
Emily is an experienced organizer and activist. A double major in Economics and Environmental Studies, she is the co-director of a local not-for-profit and a coordinator for effective teams of up to 300 volunteers. Emily is also an experienced climate campaigner, community activator and trained member of Al Gore's Climate Reality Leadership Corps.

HOUSING
Advocate for student housing rights, both on and off campus, including pressuring the Municipality of Saanich to change their housing Bylaw 5.20 responsible for many student evictions.
TEXTBOOK COSTS
Increase the number of open-source, affordable textbooks
TRANSPORTATION COSTS
Work to gain a voting seat on the Victoria Regional Transit Commission, in order to have student needs heard and addressed, including transit costs and improve late-night bussing

SUSTAINABILITY
As Director I will
DIVESTMENT
Lobby for UVic’s full divestment from fossil fuel extraction, transportation, and refinement companies
STUDENT CARBON LEADERSHIP
Build financial and operational support for student-led GHG reduction projects
TRANSIT
Work to gain a voting seat on the Victoria Regional Transit Commission, to improve the availability and cost of lower-carbon transit

SAFETY
As Director I will
SEXUAL ASSAULT AND CONSENT TRAINING
Introduce mandatory, in-person sexual assault and respect training for all first-year students
MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS
Support mental health by working to remove financial barriers and offer workshops with a focus on effective, inclusive, and long-term solutions
MORE BUSSES AT NIGHT
Work with the Victoria Regional Transit Commission to extend late-night service, to ensure that students from a range of communities have a safe and affordable way to get home at night
CULTURAL ACCESSIBILITY
Audit key UVSS campaigns for cultural safety and accessibility
